Wednesday Wishlist: Farm, Sweet Farm

You can take the girl out of the city, but you can't take the city out of the girl.  Maybe, but how about if you take this girl out of the city, and plant her on a farm out in the country.  Surround her with rolling hills and big skies and land where she can grow her own food, plant a beautiful flower garden, tend to her chickens and goats and pigs and sheep.  Watch as she sits on her porch at night and gazes up at the stars.  Yeah, that's my dream, and one day I hope to have my own farm and live off my land.  I love the city (Chicago will always be my home), but I long for the tranquility and slower pace of country life.  Less noise, less pollution, less distractions.   Soon, very soon.

Wednesday Wishlist: Random Wants

For this week's Wednesday Wishlist, I bring you my current Top 10 List of Random Wants:

1.  Meet Beck.  This guy is freaking brilliant.  There isn't a single one of his songs that I don't like.
Seriously, he's a musical genius.  Beck, I love you.

2.  A country cottage in the woods.  I want to relish in the peace and quiet, just me and nature,
without a neighbor in sight for at least half a mile.

3.  My kids graduating from high school.  They'll all be 18 when that happens and I will then be fully entitled to kick them out of my house.  I love them dearly, but I'll love them more when they're gone.  :)

4.  Open the J May Cafe.  A quaint little establishment serving fine homemade cuisine.  Stop in for a light meal or a cup of coffee and some good conversation.  You're always welcome.

5.  Open the J May Boutique.  Another quaint little establishment offering the finest handmade goods around.  Would love to combine the boutique and cafe together.

6.  A money tree.  Money doesn't grow on trees you say?  Nonsense!   Look at the picture.

8.  Peace.  Period.

9.  Learn to play guitar.  I can rock out on air guitar like it's nobody's business, but if I learn to play the real thing maybe Beck will ask me to join him on tour.

10.  Happiness.  For you, for me, for everybody.

Wednesday Wishlist: Road Trip!

I am and always will be a Midwestern girl.  Born and raised in Chicago, The Windy City will forever hold a special place in my heart.  But sometimes I get the desire to blow this town for a while, when I hear the call of the open road.   Load up the car and just take off down the highway.  There's a freedom in taking a road trip that I find positively exhilarating.  This week's Wednesday Wishlist highlights points North, South, East and West of Chi-town.  All are accessible by car, and every one of these fine destinations would make for one fabulous road trip.  Won't you travel with me?

Up North to Alberta, Canada

Down South to Kentucky, USA

Head East to New York City, USA

Go West to Grand Canyon, Arizona, USA
